Minecraft Dungeons is Out and Here’s What We Think About It

Minecraft is an ever-evolving franchise and its latest spin-off title, Minecraft Dungeons, is proving that the voxel world of Minecraft has a lot more to offer.

Minecraft Dungeons is an isometric dungeon crawler filled to the brim with Minecraft staples like the voxel graphics and all matter of zombies, skeletons, and Creepers. It’s definitely a departure from the first-person antics of vanilla Minecraft, but it is definitely a welcome change of pace.

From the get-go, you get to create a whole new character, with a surprisingly robust range of character skins that you can choose from, including the classic Steve and Alex skins.

Soon, you’ll be thrust into the first mission, learning the ropes of the combat, knowing when to use close-range and long-range weapons, and even how to use powerful tools known as Artifacts.

You’ll also be introduced to the Arch-Illager and his army of evil Illagers, the main evil force in the game’s campaign. If you’re used to Minecraft Story Mode’s brand of humour, expect more of that throughout this campaign.

Minecraft Dungeons is definitely better played with friends, especially with the game having cross-play with other major platforms. The best part is that the game is free for Xbox One owners who are subscribed to the Game Pass.

For younger Minecraft fans who want something different from the usual crafting and building original Minecraft offers and the choose-your-own-adventure stylings of Minecraft Story Mode, then this is a great action-packed alternative.

While it may not be as deep as something like Diablo or Path of Exile, it definitely is a great way to introduce younger players to this sort of game. This may be a better experience for parents who are looking for new games to play together with their kids.

The game was co-developed by Mojang and Double Eleven, which has since opened a studio in Malaysia. If you’re looking for a career in the gaming industry, their Kuala Lumpur office is still looking for aspiring talents to apply.
