Mercy Becomes A Dragon For Overwatch Anniversary Event

High-flying healer Mercy is receiving a new Legendary skin for the fourth Overwatch Anniversary event, developer Blizzard revealed today. The aptly-named Dragoon Mercy skin will be available when the event goes live on May 19th.

The new Mercy skin was teased earlier this month by Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan, who revealed in a Q&A event on Discord that the support hero has a “cool skin coming up.” Dragoon Mercy has now been unveiled just a couple days before the 2020 Overwatch Anniversary event launches. The skin wraps the hero in green, scaly armor, complete with a dragon’s head helmet.

Mercy is no stranger to Legendary skins, though the dragon-inspired edition seems to step outside the usual lines. The Swiss medic has traded in her light feathers for hard-plated reptilian armor. The scaled suit has real-world origins, with “Dragoon” being the name of a horse-mounted infantry in the British army from around the 17th century.

Dragoon Mercy is the fourth Legendary skin revealed ahead of the 2020 Overwatch Anniversary event. The armored healer now joins the ranks of Little Red Ashe, Huitzilopochtli Zenyatta, and Masquerade Reaper. Dragoon Mercy, along with the other new Legendary skins, can be acquired either in loot boxes or through a purchase that will set players back 3,000 gold.

The 2020 Overwatch Anniversary will begin on May 19th and run until June 10th.
